Jacqueline McInnes (5 Rhythms teacher extraordinaire) and I (writer/editor/mentor/teacher) are hosting a day-long workshop: Gathering Our Selves. Through movement and writing, we will explore concepts of memory – tapping into, rediscovering, shifting and re-narrating memories that may no longer serve us well, and creating personal stories that are more open and expansive.
Fingal Heads, in New South Wales’ northern rivers area, is one of those powerful earth places. It is the kind of place you feel peaceful in, where energy ripples across the beach and through the trees. It is sacred space. This is where Jackie and I are holding our workshop: Gathering Our Selves.
Fingal Head is an ancestral djurebil [sacred site] on Bunjalung country of the Ngarakbal Githabal People. They believe Fingal Head is protected by ‘Ineroogun’ – the Black Dog spirit.
There used to be a cave at the headlands, but this was destroyed to form break walls for the river. It is said that this cave was a significant site, home to Galiwus, a protective supernatural hairy man, and the dreaming home of ‘Ineroogun’.
We’d love for you to come and experience this powerful land with us, to hear about the mythology of the area and share the space we have set aside in which to connect, to write, to move, to explore and to Gather Our Selves.
Places are limited, so get in early to secure your place at the early bird price.
Feedback from previous participants
- I felt HELD and SAFE and NURTURED – IMMEDIATELY upon stepping into that lovely cottage…it was as if all pressure of everyday life fell off me and I just felt cared for and really in for a great treat (which is was). Shel and Jackie led the workshop very, very professionally; they were really clear and always calm. It was immensely powerful for me. ~VIVI
- The workshop was well organised and professionally run. I felt very held and supported throughout the day. The material was presented in a logical sequence, it was engaging and well paced. The flow between movement and writing was very conducive to accessing a deeper place from which to write. Much appreciated! All the activities were enjoyable and I go insight from each of them. ~ROCHELLE
- I have been spruiking your wonderfulness to my circles of peoples. The content of the day was beautiful. ~NIKKI
